Job Role: 2D Artist

Favourite Game/s: Katawa Shoujo

What’s your role in Rebourne Studios?

I am the main 2D artist, designing everything from characters to environments. This also extends to creating sprite sheets and conceptual art for any projects I am working on.The scope of the job is diverse, bringing with it new challenges with every turn.

What is the best thing about working at Rebourne Studios?

The best thing about working at Rebourne, is the creative freedom that is extended to all that work here. Regardless of role, any ideas that you come up with will be taken seriously and implemented into projects if they're decent enough. That freedom really helps with my work as I am able to put my own stamp onto what I work on. Always feeling like the work I am doing is 100% my own creation.

What inspired you to want to develop video games?

I have always been a fan of video games since I was young and have always wanted to create my own. Through discovering my passion for art and writing, I found a way I could achieve my dream. I mean, who wouldn't want to do a job they love day in and day out?My main inspiration would be the impact games have on people. I want one day to have consumers and critics view my work and get an emotional response from the worlds I create and the tales I spin.

You’re favourite game is Katawa Shoujo. Why is this?

This game elicited an emotional response from me like no game has before. The attachment to characters and the immersion in the story I had has been rivalled by no game since. Although it is a visual novel, and not necessarily a game I play often, it is still my favourite. Other games I love for their gameplay, stories and characters. But this one has a special place in my heart.

Outside of video games, what are your hobbies?

I have a wide range of hobbies, ranging from creating artwork of my own in both traditional and digital media. Writing stories, drawing manga and playing acoustic guitar are all hobbies of mine also. But my main relief from the world of work would be the company of friends, engaging in any sort of activity.
